AFSCME New Jersey Council 63 Endorses Mikie Sherrill for Governor
Trenton, NJ – AFSCME New Jersey Council 63 today announced its endorsement of Mikie Sherrill for Governor of New Jersey.
“Mikie Sherrill has a deep respect for public service and a strong track record of standing with working people,” said Executive Director Steve Tully. “She understands the critical role that AFSCME members play in keeping our communities running, from public health and public safety to essential municipal and state services, and she knows that work is under attack. Billionaires and anti-union extremists are trying to destroy the services we provide, undermine the laws that protect our health and safety, strip away our job security, and silence our right to organize.
We’re not going to let that happen. It’s our hard work, not corporate greed, that makes New Jersey stronger. Mikie Sherrill has proven time and again that she stands with public workers, and we are confident that as Governor, she will be a powerful champion for labor and a fierce defender of our rights.”
As a former Navy helicopter pilot, federal prosecutor, and U.S. Representative, Mikie Sherrill has built her career on service, leadership, and getting results. In Congress, she has consistently advocated for labor rights, affordable healthcare, and strong public infrastructure. AFSCME joins a growing coalition of labor organizations across the state in proudly endorsing Mikie Sherrill’s candidacy.
AFSCME New Jersey proudly represents over 20,000 public service workers who keep our state running every day. With more than 30,000 active and retired members across New Jersey, our union is a powerful voice for working people — advocating for fairness on the job, quality public services, and opportunity for all. From nurses to social service workers to child care providers to sanitation workers, AFSCME members make New Jersey happen.
